Read the guides
Do I need a visa to visit the UAE?
Many nationalities receive visa-free entry or a visa on arrival for 30–90 days, while others apply for an e-visa in advance. Always check the current requirements for your passport before you travel.
When is the best time to visit the Emirates?
November to March brings warm, sunny days that are ideal for beaches, deserts and sightseeing. Summer (June–September) is very hot, but you'll find lower hotel rates and plenty of air-conditioned attractions.
Is the UAE expensive to visit?
It can be, but it doesn't have to be. Alongside the famous luxury options there are free beaches and parks, affordable local restaurants, and cheap metro travel in Dubai.
What should I wear?
Lightweight, breathable clothing works year-round. Dress modestly in public areas, mosques and heritage districts — cover shoulders and knees. Swimwear is fine at beaches, pools and resorts.
Can I drink alcohol in the UAE?
Alcohol is served in licensed hotels, bars and restaurants. Public drinking and intoxication are not permitted, and rules vary slightly by emirate — Sharjah is dry.
How do I get around the seven Emirates?
Dubai has a modern metro, and taxis and ride-hailing are widely available everywhere. To explore several emirates, hiring a car gives the most freedom — excellent highways link them all.

The old town is tiny but go for the coral-stone houses and the calmest lagoon in the UAE. Pack a picnic, there's little nearby.
